SUMMARY

Dr. Vincent Kiprono Mukthar, PhD, RN is a distinguished nurse scientist, educator, researcher, academic leader, and mentor with over two decades of experience in nursing practice, higher education, research, academic leadership, and professional service. He is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at Egerton University, where he has served in various academic and leadership capacities, including Chairman of the Department of Nursing and Academic Leader for the Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Nursing programmes.

Dr. Mukthar holds a PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. His professional career combines extensive clinical experience with a strong commitment to advancing nursing education, evidence-based practice, and healthcare quality.

His scholarly and research interests span nursing education and competency, critical care nursing, maternal and neonatal health, infection prevention, reproductive health, health systems, and healthcare workforce development. He has led and contributed to funded research projects and has developed a growing portfolio of peer-reviewed publications, scoping reviews, conference presentations, and academic modules addressing contemporary health and nursing challenges in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Mukthar has demonstrated significant expertise in postgraduate supervision, thesis examination, mentorship, and academic quality assurance, supporting postgraduate scholars across nursing, medicine, public health, nutrition, and related disciplines. He currently serves as an External Examiner for several Kenyan universities, including Maseno University, Moi University, Kaimosi Friends University, and The Presbyterian University of East Africa.
He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer and academic leader across selected Kenyan universities, reflecting his broader contribution to higher education beyond his home institution.

Beyond academia, Dr. Mukthar contributes to professional development, community service, mentorship, and institutional governance. His career is distinguished by a sustained commitment to academic excellence, research-informed nursing practice, leadership development, and strengthening healthcare education and systems in Kenya and beyond.
