SUMMARY

Ms. Beverly Achieng  is an assistant lecturer in the department of Literature, Languages and Linguistics. After graduating with a Bachelor of Education Degree from Egerton University, she taught at Secondary school level before enrolling for postgraduate studies. She later obtained a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics from Egerton University and taught as a parttime lecturer before being employed as assistant lecturer in 2013. Her area of specialization is in Communication Skills and Linguistics (English) majoring in Research methods, Syntax as well as  Discourse and communication studies. She has completed a doctoral degree in linguistics with a focus on Multilingualism and Family Language policy/practice and is awaiting graduation later this year.

1997-2008: High School teacher serving under the Teachers Service Commission of Kenya.

1. Lead Communication Skills section in creating online assessment materials for the common unit of COMS 111 (successfully completed and currently in use.)

2. Work with departmental team to develop syllabus for teaching German language. (successfully completed and handed over to Department)
